Upcoming Cheltenham Festival
As the 2026 Cheltenham Festival approaches, Harry Redknapp, now 79 years old, is preparing to attend the event from March 6 to March 8. His horse, The Jukebox Man, has emerged as a strong contender for the prestigious Cheltenham Gold Cup, following a successful victory in the King George VI Chase on Boxing Day 2025.
Harry Redknapp’s Affiliation with Horse Racing
Harry Redknapp has a long-standing passion for horse racing, and owning a horse that competes in the Gold Cup is a significant achievement for him. He expressed his excitement, stating, “It’s a dream to have a horse to run in the Gold Cup and go there with a chance.” The Jukebox Man was purchased for £70,000 and is currently among the favorites to win the upcoming race.
Challenges at Tottenham Hotspur
While Redknapp looks forward to the festival, his former club, Tottenham Hotspur, is facing a challenging season. Currently, Tottenham sits just one point above the relegation zone, raising concerns among fans and analysts alike. Interim manager Igor Tudor has had a difficult start, losing his first three games in charge.
Speculation Surrounding Managerial Changes
Given the club’s precarious position, there has been speculation about potential managerial changes. Redknapp has been suggested as a possible choice to take over from Tudor, as he previously managed Tottenham from 2008 to 2012, achieving a win rate of nearly 50% during his tenure. Jamie O’Hara noted the need for someone who cares about the club, stating, “You need someone at that football club who cares about it, who has an affiliation to it, who is going to get the fans onside.”
Current State of Affairs
As of now, Redknapp has dismissed the idea of returning to management, saying, “I can’t see it happening. I’ll be at Cheltenham on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.” His focus remains on the upcoming race, while Tottenham’s future hangs in the balance as they navigate a challenging season.
