North Macedonia to Host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026

North Macedonia is set to host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2026, marking a historic first for the country. This announcement was made during a press conference following the final of the San Marino Song Contest 2026.

Roberto Sergio, a prominent figure in the Eurovision community, confirmed that while San Marino had applied to host the event, North Macedonia was ultimately chosen. “We have actually applied. San Marino has submitted its candidacy to the EBU, but unfortunately we will not be hosting the event because another country applied before us,” Sergio stated.

North Macedonia has a long history with the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, having participated in nearly every edition since its inception, missing only the years 2012, 2014, and 2020. In the 2025 contest, Nela Mančeska represented the country and achieved a commendable 7th place with 141 points.

In addition to the Junior Eurovision news, Senhit will represent San Marino for the fourth time at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest 2026. She previously competed in 2011 and 2021, and her participation continues to draw attention to San Marino’s efforts in the competition.

The final of the Dreaming San Marino Song Contest took place at the Teatro Nuovo theatre in Dogana, where 21 finalists from 13 countries competed. Notably, the voting for this final was comprised entirely of jury votes, highlighting the competitive nature of the event.

San Marino has been a consistent participant in the Eurovision Song Contest since 2008, with the exception of 2009 and 2010. Their best result came in 2019 when they placed 19th.

As the preparations for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026 begin, observers are keen to see how North Macedonia will embrace this opportunity to showcase its culture and talent on an international stage. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the specific venues and events planned for the contest.

With the excitement building, the Eurovision community looks forward to what North Macedonia will bring to the table in 2026, as the country steps into the spotlight for the first time in this prestigious competition.
