Amber Davies Withdraws from Performances
Amber Davies has pulled out of upcoming shows of Legally Blonde The Musical due to a lingering illness that has affected her health for the past month. The 29-year-old actress, who plays the lead role of Elle Woods, has been on antibiotics while trying to recover.
In a recent statement, Davies expressed her frustration, saying, “Ok update: After talking to my doctor, being on antibiotics and trying to recover whilst doing shows is getting me and my health NOWHERE.” She further noted, “Been working on this lingering illness for a month now so I’ll be off again from my beautiful Elle Woods.”
Davies, who gained fame after winning the third series of ITV’s Love Island in 2017, has a significant following on social media, boasting 1.3 million followers on Instagram. Her understudy, Hannah Lowther, who has 1.3 million followers on TikTok, will take over her role during this period.
Davies has previously starred in The Great Gatsby and won a WhatsOnStage award for her performance. She also gained recognition as a finalist on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Despite her success, Davies admitted to struggling with burnout, stating, “I fear if I keep ‘pushing through’ I will be battling with this for longer than I need to be.” This highlights the challenges faced by performers in the demanding world of musical theatre.
The current tour of Legally Blonde is set to conclude in January 2027, leaving fans hopeful for Davies’ return to the stage. However, her health remains the priority as she takes time to recover.
As the situation develops, observers are keen to see how Davies’ recovery progresses and when she might rejoin the cast. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the exact timeline of her return to the role of Elle Woods.
