A Muslim individual known for his "disturbing and outrageous beliefs" has been photographed several times alongside Rachel Reeves. He faces allegations of promoting conspiracy theories related to 9/11 and has implied that he intends to "obliterate" those who criticize Islam.
Arshad Khatana, who serves as the vice-chairman of the Leeds Council of Mosques and is affiliated with the Jamia Masjid Ghousia in Armley, is reported to have circulated a video implying that the media had subtly hinted at the September 11 attacks beforehand.
Controversial Beliefs and Allegations
Reform UK’s Treasury spokesperson, Robert Jenrick, stated that Mr. Khatana had previously been seen with individuals holding “abhorrent” beliefs. In September 2025, Mr. Khatana was captured in a photograph alongside Muhammad Adil Shahzad, who had earlier suggested that the search engine Google should be avoided as it is “controlled by the Jews”.

Mr. Shahzad previously remarked: "Avoid Google, Facebook, and Twitter for your inquiries. Instead, consult the Ulama Haqqa (scholars of truth) for guidance. When you search for these topics on Google, the majority of the sites are either operated by Qadianis or by Jewish individuals.” In 2019, Mr. Khatana shared a video alleging that the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington, which resulted in the deaths of 2,977 innocent civilians and 19 hijackers, were subtly foreshadowed in American television shows like The Simpsons prior to their occurrence. The narrator claims: "The media is being utilized to psychologically prepare viewers for imminent geopolitical shifts. Additionally, it serves to communicate hidden messages that may involve the discreet dissemination of crucial information." That same year, Mr. Khabana released a compilation featuring individuals such as Riyaz Naikoo, a member of Hizbul Mujahideen, which is designated as a terrorist organization in the European Union, Canada, and the United States.

Mr. Jenrick stated that Ms. Reeves, the MP for Leeds West and Pudsey, had engaged with Mr. Khatana on at least twenty occasions, including visits to his residence in Yorkshire. The former Tory remarked: “This reflects a shocking lack of judgment from Rachel Reeves. She has formed a close relationship with a local ‘community leader’ in Leeds to protect her own political interests. However, this individual is a fanatic who has consistently demonstrated his disturbing beliefs. We do not want foreign matters and sectarian politics influencing our parliament. Reeves needs to clarify this situation and justify her closeness to this individual.”
