Cambridge Half Marathon 2026 Overview

The Cambridge Half Marathon is now in its 15th year and is expected to attract around 15,000 runners on March 6, 2026. This 13.1-mile (21.1 km) event is renowned for its flat course, providing participants with a good opportunity to achieve personal best times.

The race will commence at 09:30 GMT, starting and finishing on Victoria Avenue, adjacent to the event’s village on Midsummer Common. As part of the preparations, 36 roads in and around the city will be closed to accommodate the event.

Chloe Hodgkisson’s Inspiring Journey

Among the participants is Chloe Hodgkisson, who is running the marathon after suffering a stroke in 2024. Following her stroke, Chloe underwent emergency surgery to remove a blood clot from her brain and has since been on a remarkable journey of recovery. “I just couldn’t believe it; I had to walk again,” she stated, reflecting on her challenges.

Chloe is not only participating for personal achievement but is also raising money for the Stroke Association charity. She completed a 60-mile Run/Walk for Stroke challenge ahead of the marathon, demonstrating her commitment to both her recovery and the cause. “I want to turn it into a positive and say ‘this is an awful thing that’s happened, but I have got better,'” she expressed.

Rob Foreman’s Unique Participation

Rob Foreman, another participant, will be running in full firefighter kit to support the Magpas Air Ambulance charity. This will mark his eighth year participating in the event. He acknowledged the physical challenges ahead, stating, “This challenge is definitely going to be one of the hardest I’ve done physically, so it’s going to be a case of being mentally strong and resilient.”

As the event approaches, both Chloe and Rob’s stories highlight the spirit of resilience and community that the Cambridge Half Marathon embodies. Observers anticipate a successful event, celebrating not only athletic achievement but also the power of personal stories and charitable efforts.
