M6 Traffic Update

“We would encourage motorists to find alternative travel routes if they can do so,” stated a spokesperson for the police regarding the ongoing situation on the M6.

The M6 is currently closed northbound between junction 28 (Charnock Richard) and junction 30 (Bamber Bridge) due to an ongoing police incident. This closure is expected to clear by 11am, causing significant delays for drivers in the area.

In addition to this, the M6 is also closed northbound between junction 21 and 21a, close to Warrington, due to another police incident. These closures come as the M6 has experienced multiple disruptions recently, highlighting ongoing safety concerns.

Traffic has been ‘held’ after a crash on the M6 southbound between junction 12 for Gailey and junction 13 for Stafford South. The collision was reported at 6.35am, and all traffic is being temporarily held in this area.

The incident is expected to resolve by approximately 8.30am, allowing for some movement to resume. However, the police have emphasized the necessity of the closures, stating, “This closure will cause some disruption but it is absolutely necessary, and we are working as quickly as we can to get the carriageway fully re-open.”

Motorists are advised to remain patient and consider alternative routes to avoid the affected areas. The ongoing police operations are crucial for ensuring safety on the roads.

As the situation develops, updates will be provided to keep the public informed about the status of the M6 traffic and any changes to the expected clearance times.
