Coastal Construction Liquidation

“We did everything we possibly could to keep it going, but we got to the point where we couldn’t hold off anymore,” said Kevin Waddison, one of the directors of Coastal Construction, as the company faced liquidation owing creditors £1.06 million. This announcement has sent ripples through the local construction and football communities, particularly affecting Norwich City Football Club (ncfc), which was one of the company’s creditors.

Coastal Construction, which ceased trading in October 2025, had a total of 26 creditors, with Norwich City being a significant stakeholder. The company had been the official building contractor for the club and had even invested in a hospitality box at Carrow Road, the club’s home ground. The financial troubles of Coastal Construction have raised questions about the future of various construction projects in the region.

Kevin Waddison elaborated on the challenges faced by the company, stating, “It shows the sort of pressure we were getting from some of our creditors.” The financial strain was compounded by the introduction of nutrient neutrality planning rules, which caused significant delays to housing projects that Coastal Construction was involved in. These regulatory hurdles added to the difficulties the company was already experiencing.

In a bid to keep the company afloat, Kevin and his brother Gary Waddison injected around £300,000 of their own money into Coastal Construction last year. Despite their efforts, the financial situation proved untenable. “Unfortunately, we could not trade any longer,” Kevin Waddison lamented, highlighting the grim reality faced by the company and its stakeholders.

The liquidation of Coastal Construction not only impacts its creditors but also raises concerns about the ongoing projects in Heacham and surrounding areas. The company’s closure could lead to further delays in housing developments that were already struggling due to regulatory issues.

Coastal Construction was established by Peter Waddison, who passed away in 2023. His legacy, along with the company’s contributions to local construction and its relationship with ncfc, will be felt in the community as the implications of this liquidation unfold.

As the situation develops, stakeholders and creditors await further updates on the liquidation process and its consequences. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the next steps for the creditors and the future of the projects that Coastal Construction was involved in.
