Manchester City secure Allan Elias from Palmeiras
Manchester City have reached an agreement to sign winger Allan Elias from Palmeiras. The deal for the Brazilian player is valued at up to £34.2m. This transfer is set to bring a new attacking option to the squad as the club looks to reshape its forward line.
The agreement includes a fixed fee of £32m, with an additional £2.2m in add-ons. A medical examination for Allan is expected to take place in the coming days. The 22-year-old winger has been identified as a potential replacement for his compatriot Savinho, who appears to be nearing a move to Tottenham.
Prior to this agreement, Palmeiras had reportedly rejected an initial offer from Manchester City, which was said to be worth €25m plus €5m in add-ons. Palmeiras’ manager, Abel Ferreira, had previously indicated that any club interested in Allan would need to pay a substantial fee. Ferreira highlighted Allan’s ability to both attack and defend, noting that such versatility is highly valued by European clubs.
Transfer movements at the Etihad
The acquisition of Allan Elias is part of a series of significant transfer activities for Manchester City. The club is also reportedly in advanced discussions regarding the sale of Egypt forward Omar Marmoush to Tottenham. Sources suggest there is a strong possibility that this deal will be finalised before the transfer deadline on 1 September, though some details are still being negotiated between the two clubs.
Should the transfers for Savinho and Marmoush proceed, Manchester City could receive a substantial sum, with reports indicating a potential club record of £85m from Tottenham for Savinho alone. These potential departures have prompted City to seek reinforcements, leading to their pursuit of Allan.
In addition to these movements, midfielder Nico Gonzalez may also leave the Etihad Stadium before the transfer window closes. There is considerable interest in the Spanish player from Newcastle. Manchester City has already generated approximately £150m from the sales of players such as Rodri, Tijjani Reijnders, James Trafford, and Nathan Ake.
The club’s transfer spending this summer could reach around £250m if Allan and Ayyoub Bouaddi join. Bouaddi, a Morocco midfielder from Lille, was reportedly subject to a €100m deal. Other arrivals include Elliot Anderson, who joined for £116m, and deals for back-up goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli and teenage winger Jeremy Monga.
Allan’s contributions at Palmeiras
During his time at Palmeiras, Allan Elias has made significant contributions to the team. He has scored nine goals and provided 12 assists in 96 appearances for the club. His manager, Abel Ferreira, has praised his defensive discipline alongside his attacking prowess, noting his ability to track back and play in various positions, including as a right-back or within a back three.
Ferreira acknowledged the difficulty of retaining sought-after players in the face of European interest, stating that while a departure would mean losing quality, it would not diminish the team’s competitiveness. He also mentioned that Palmeiras has a history of selling players for significant figures. The club’s hierarchy and coaching staff are working to resolve Allan’s future before the summer transfer window concludes.
Palmeiras is now preparing for upcoming fixtures, including hosting Santos in the first leg of their Copa do Brasil quarter-final tie on 26 August. They will then travel to Mirassol in the league four days later, before the decisive return leg against Santos.
