Tottenham Hotspur has announced the signing of Egypt international forward Omar Marmoush on an initial loan agreement from Manchester City. The deal for Marmoush includes an obligation for Spurs to make the move permanent next summer.
Reports indicate that the obligation to buy is valued at £60m, comprising a £50m guaranteed payment and an additional £10m in add-ons. Marmoush will wear the No. 22 shirt for Tottenham.
This transfer sees Marmoush reunite with former Manchester City teammate Savio, who also joined Spurs recently. Savio completed an £85m move to the club on Tuesday and made his debut in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup match against Charlton, where he contributed a goal and an assist in a 5-1 victory.
Marmoush’s Impact and Coach’s Expectations
Tottenham Head Coach Roberto De Zerbi expressed his belief that Marmoush’s addition will elevate the team’s attacking capabilities. De Zerbi highlighted Marmoush’s pace, intelligence, and goal-scoring threat as key attributes that can take their attacking play to a new level.
De Zerbi stated, “Omar is exactly the kind of player we want at this club – ambitious, hungry and determined to make a difference. He has incredible attacking quality but what I also love is his desire to improve and to win.”

Career Trajectory and Achievements
Marmoush’s professional career began in July 2016, making his debut for Wadi Degla at 17 years old. He moved to Germany the following year to join VfL Wolfsburg, initially playing for their youth side before making his senior debut in May 2020. He then had a loan spell with FC St Pauli during the second half of the 2020/21 season.
His breakthrough in European football came during a loan spell at VfB Stuttgart. During this period, he scored on his debut and earned the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month award for September 2021, an accolade he secured again in March of the following year.
After his time at Stuttgart, Marmoush returned to Wolfsburg, becoming a regular in the first team. He made a total of 48 appearances and scored six goals for the senior side before moving to Eintracht Frankfurt in May 2023.
At Eintracht Frankfurt, Marmoush had an impressive debut campaign, scoring 17 goals in 41 games across all competitions, helping the team secure a UEFA Europa League spot. His strong form continued into the next season, where he won the league’s Player of the Month award for September 2024, contributing to seven of the team’s eight goals, including five goals of his own. He received the same Bundesliga award again in November 2024.
Marmoush made 67 appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring 37 goals and providing 20 assists, before joining Manchester City in January 2025. His start at City included a hat-trick in a 4-0 victory against Newcastle United in February 2025. In his debut season with City, he made 25 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight goals, and won the Premier League’s Goal of the Season award for a strike against Bournemouth in May 2025. He also helped City secure the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, accumulating 16 goals in 62 appearances across all competitions.
For his national team, Egypt, Marmoush scored the winner on his senior debut in October 2021 during a World Cup qualifying fixture against Libya. He played a role in his country reaching the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations final and has represented Egypt in three Africa Cup of Nations tournaments. He also featured in the World Cup for the first time this summer and currently holds 55 caps and 11 goals for his country.
