Severe Delays Reported

“Passengers should anticipate longer journey times and delays at interchange stations,” a Transport for London (TfL) spokesperson stated amid ongoing disruptions on the Northern line.

On March 12, 2026, severe delays were reported between High Barnet and Battersea Power Station, as well as between Mill Hill East and Kennington via Charing Cross. These issues stem from a combination of planned maintenance and technical problems, including a signal failure at East Finchley earlier that morning.

The Bank branch of the Northern line has been undergoing planned early closures from Camden Town to Kennington since January 12, 2026, as part of essential track replacement work. This maintenance has significantly impacted service reliability.

As TfL engineers work to address the signal failure at East Finchley, passengers are advised to check before they travel and allow extra time for their journeys. TfL recommends using its journey planner to check updated routes.

In response to the disruptions, London Buses are currently accepting Tube tickets, providing an alternative for affected commuters while repairs are underway.

Normal services have resumed on the Bakerloo, Jubilee, and Piccadilly lines, albeit with minor delays. However, uncertainties remain around the duration of the delays on the Northern line as engineers continue their repairs.

Travelers are encouraged to stay informed about the latest updates to avoid inconvenience during their commutes.
