Brentford’s strong start to the season
Brentford began their Premier League season with a 3-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur at the Gtech Community Stadium. The win marked a dominant performance for Keith Andrews‘ side, who established a significant lead by halftime and extended it early in the second half.
The home side’s first goal arrived in the 12th minute. Midfielder Mamadou Sangaré, making his Premier League debut, was central to the build-up. He received the ball from Nathan Collins, played a one-two with Dango Ouattara, and then pulled it back for Keane Lewis-Potter, who scored from close range past Antonin Kinsky.

Tottenham Hotspur, whose spending on new signings is set to exceed £300m, struggled to contain Brentford‘s attacking play. Sangaré, a £39m signing from Lens, was a key figure in Brentford‘s midfield, outshining Sandro Tonali, who became Spurs‘ record signing this summer. Tonali, who won possession more times than any Spurs or Newcastle United player in the Premier League last season, averaged 16.8 forward passes and 3.3 progressive passes per 90 minutes.

Brentford‘s victory marks a strong start to their campaign, building on their home form from the previous season. Last term, Brentford were unbeaten in home league London derbies, with one win and five draws.
Tottenham Hotspur, under manager Roberto De Zerbi, had three new players in their back four for this match.
