Neal McMahon, Ryanair’s chief operations officer, stated, “Governments across Europe are attempting to roll out a half-baked IT system in the middle of the busiest travel season of the year, and passengers are paying the price.” He further urged EU governments to suspend the EES until September when travel volumes are expected to decrease.

The disruption affected not only flights within the EU but also those destined for countries outside it. Fortunately for some, Ryanair confirmed that all passengers who presented at the boarding gate before departure were accommodated.
