Highly-rated Manchester United striker JJ Gabriel, 15, has formally requested to cancel his registration with the club. This development has reportedly surprised those at United, who believe the situation can still be resolved. Gabriel was expected to feature in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup tie against Brighton, but will now not be considered for selection.
The precise reasons for Gabriel’s request have not been fully outlined, but it is understood that issues have arisen in the relationship between the player’s family and the club. One report suggests that a lack of game time, both in pre-season and since the start of the current season, is a contributing factor to Gabriel’s desire to leave.

Some of Gabriel’s long-standing academy team-mates reportedly received more exposure in pre-season, and another attacking player, 18-year-old Tynan Thompson, made a 45-minute senior debut against Leeds at Croke Park.
United sources were reportedly confident that Gabriel would become the club’s youngest ever player this autumn, potentially in the EFL Cup.
